Categorically Crafting Show Advice, Please!!!!

As I said a few days ago when I announced that I was pregnant, there will be some changes to this blog. It just seems to take so much time. I started it as a way to save cute craft ideas I wanted to make, but didn't want it taking up my personal blog. It has transformed into something much bigger than I ever imagined. I make a little money from it, but not much to justify the time I spend on the computer.
.
One of the things I have considered changing is Categorically Crafting. It takes at the bare minimum an hour to get the post up. Usually, it takes about 2 hours. I try to highlight at least 5 projects and have a linky. That is time away from my young family.
.
I have given the option for other bloggers to gather the projects and make a post. They get to include one project from their blog in the round-up. In exchange for their time, I will put their button in the post as the host of that Categorically Crafting Show. Only two bloggers took me up on the offer. They got well over 100 views the day of the party.
.
So I want to know what you think of the Categorically Crafting Shows. Is it something you like? Is it something you link to? Do you check out any of the links at the party? If I don't have a round-up, would you miss that? Should I keep it going weekly? Only on special ocassions? Or never? Would you want to be the host of a Categorically Crafting Show one week?
.
I would love for you to leave a comment and let me know your thoughts. If you don't want to leave a comment, please take the quick survey on the side!
.
Thanks for your patience with me as I am trying to balance this blog with my family and a job.
.
(Oh, I do have some openings for advertising. A few buttons are coming down soon. I have the most inexpensive rates of any blog my size. $35 for 3 months. Let me know if you are interested.)

  3. I will host a week!! :) And I missed your pregnancy announcement!!! CONGRATS!!!
I think you should have the party. If you can find hosts, fine. If you can't find hosts, don't do the features that week. Just do a plea for hosts instead with the linky! :)

  4. I think it would be great to keep it, but it probably doesn't need to be every Friday. I like the holiday parties best because everyone has something to link up to the party and is really interested in the projects others link up. Maybe 1-2 times a month??

I'm happy to host the parties anytime (or every time). I mean it- just shoot me an email and I'll get it put together.

  5. Or, if its easier for you- do it once a month? Or maybe for holiday ideas only? If that helps ease the organization of it. Like one link-up per month for one holiday, Valentine's Day, Saint Patrick's Day, Easter (or pastel,) flowers, rain, 4th of july etc.etc.

  7. I think you'll end up with enough hosts from the looks of this. I'm here a couple of times a week, and I love your features. I'd miss the party if it was gone.

  8. I'm a relatively new follower (gosh, the last 2 weeks I think?) so I'm not sure how much weight I should have, but I know I do enjoy roundups on linky parties, because sometimes you just miss stuff. Plus, as a participant, it is shiny and special when you get featured.

I'd love to try hosting, it sounds like fun!

  9. Hello, I seem to have missed the first post on this and don't really get what you mean about hosting it, but I'd be happy to have a go!
I like a good linky party, but I do find a lot of the entries aren't things I'm interested in, I skip through and only read the sewing/knitting/crochet posts, I have no interest in the recipes and "transformations" posts. But that's just my opinion. I do like the feature posts, BUT you find that they are the same blog posts as featured on all the other linky parties that week so I've generally seen them!

  10. I'd love to host for you! And I agree with the others, I think I would miss it if it wasn't around but would understand if you just wanted to do it for special holidays.

    P.S. Congrats!

  12. Hey Michelle-
I personally LOVE the party and link up when I have a project that fits. Totally understand needing to cut back too though, #3 was tough! If you keep it around, I'd love to help out by hosting-I'd even be willing to do it more than once! Good luck with everything-

  13. I'm not sure how to do the hosting, but would be happy to jump in and help. I think making it less frequent would be much simpler on you, because even if others are hosting, you'd still have to be on top of organizing and everything! I love your blog, you find such great ideas, but I know it's WAY more work than people realize- you need to do what's best for you and your family- everyone else will understand!
    best of luck!
    xoxo,
    Amy

  17. Not sure I have much to offer on the hosting part now - as my blog is but a wee fledgling. But I do enjoy your blog so very much for great crafting ideas that you find all around the blogsphere. And whatever changes you need to make make to make time for your litle family - I fully support.
Thank you for all that you do!

  18. I totally understand. These thing take up time! You have the Whatever Goes Wednesday party, you post about other peoples projects many times a day, and you also have a giveaway directory--that's a lot! I would do a round-up sometime for you if you like. I totally understand whatever way you go. You blog had SO many great projects on it and I would like to thank you for your hard work!

  19. I've had the same issue on my blog. The linky parties really are a lot of work if you have to do features. To me, since they already have thumbnail pictures, the features aren't necessary. But I know my readers like them. It's a tough decision. I'll keep coming here no matter what you decide!
Oh, and I'd be happy to host for you. :)

  20. I would definitely miss it if it were gone, and I'd love to host!

  25. I enjoy categorically crafting but understand if you need to cut back on it. After all, your family does come first. I would LOVE to host a week (or more than one!) for you sometime! I think I missed the announcement when you asked for it before or I would have volunteered then! If there is anything else behind the scenes I could help with, I'm up for that too.

    PS. Congrats on the pregnancy!

  26. I have never participated in a Categorically Crafting party due to the parameters of crafting something along a theme! I think, while it's a great chance to share, CC might work best during holidays where people are already working on themed crafts. Or maybe even scaling back to once a month...post the theme at the beginning of the month and them have tha party at the end?

I'd love to help out in any way I can. My blog is tiny and could use the exposure and I've never hosted before....Know that you have so much support from everyone in Blogland!
