Frosted Vinyl Mirror + Silhouette Giveaway & Promo!!

Do you know how hard it is to get a good picture of a mirror? In a bathroom with no source of outside light? With 3 gigantic lights right above it? It's near impossible. Even after taking almost 100 pictures. But I persevered because this is a project I've been thinking about for a few weeks.
When Silhouette contacted me for this month's promotion, I requested to try out their Frosted Vinyl.

The Frosted Vinyl is part of their premium vinyl (which just so happens to be on sale right now!!) and it's pretty gorgeous. In the picture with the white backing on it, it looks just like a regular silver, but it's actually almost translucent, a little matte, and a little sparkly. Just like you would expect real glass etching to be.

For the mirror in this post, I used a design from the Silhouette Online Store. I used "Abstract Swirl Border" (Design #7316). As you can see below, I have a second, larger design also cut out ("Border Scrolly Swirls" Design #5415), but I haven't put that one up yet.

For my mirror, I made my cut about 19.5" x 3.2". The larger one is about 30" x 3.5". The reason I haven't put up the larger one is because I didn't have any transfer tape. In fact, I'm surprised I even managed to get up the smaller one. Instead of transfer tape, I used...

Press'n Seal!! I remembered that I saw using Press'n Seal instead of transfer tape on Pinterest, so I decided to give it a try. I wouldn't recommend it. It didn't really stick to the vinyl and it's much, much flimsier than transfer tape. Plus it left a little bit of a residue on the vinyl. You can't really tell unless you're upclose though.

To make sure I got the design on the mirror strait, I taped the design (while still on the backing) up on the mirror and used a dry erase marker to draw along the top. I then used that line as a guide for placing my design.

This is where it got tricky with the Press'n Seal. But in the end, I succeeded and ended up with this...

It's far enough up on the mirror that it doesn't interfere with our line of sight. I thought about taking it down the sides or even all around the mirror, but I didn't want little fingers picking at it or splashing water all over it. So I decided it was best to just do the top.

Now, onto the best part...a discount and a GIVEAWAY!!! Yay!!!

Here is the pricing for this month's promotion. You'll be able to get any of these deals by using code "Someday" at Silhouette America.

· 1 Silhouette Portrait™ + 1 roll of black vinyl, 1 roll of white vinyl, and 1 roll of transfer paper: $139.99
· 1 Silhouette CAMEO® + 1 roll of black vinyl, 1 roll of white vinyl, and 1 roll of transfer paper: $269.99
· All premium vinyl bought outside of a machine bundle is 25 percent off with your promotion code.

If you'll notice, the vinyl is actually on a HUGE discount. It normally costs $14.99, but it has been reduced to $9.99. THEN, you can still use the 25% discount ontop of that...so $7.50 for a roll of 9"x10' vinyl!! Awesome deal!!!!

We're also giving away a Silhouette Portrait machine to one lucky Someday Crafts reader! With Mother's Day coming up, this would be an awesome present to give. So even if you have your own machine, you can still enter and give it to someone else! Or, if you win, you could make some ROCKING mother's day gifts!

The giveaway will be open through 11:59pm on April 22nd, 2013. To enter the giveaway, just use the Rafflecopter widget below.
