My Lamp Re-Vamp!!!

The Lamp Revamped!!!

We got a hand-me-down lamp from the neighbors when they moved a year ago. It was dated, ugly and totally mismatched our house. We live in an old (1915) craftsman with all the beautiful, dark, thick original woodwork and trim. I decided to try to make the lamp look it belonged to our house.

Here's the before. I'm sure it was classy, gorgeous and wanted in the '70's. But it needs to be brought up to date!I painted it brown with Rustoleum American Accents spray paint. You gotta love the easiness of spray paint!
Next, I used Elmer's Craft Bond Spray Adhesive to glue the burlap onto the lampshade. Just spray it on the lampshade and roll the burlap across it. Apply a little pressure to the burlap to make sure it is sticking. (Hello, Halloween witch's broom.)
I didn't take any pictures after this step! Whoops! Because the top of the shade is a little smaller than the bottom, I started in the middle of the burlap and worked it out without wrinkles as I glued. I should take a picture of the back of the lamp. The burlap is not completely straight. I don't know how to describe it.

Then I hot glued brown grosgrain ribbon around the top and bottom of the lampshade to complete the look.
There! That looks much better and it "belongs" in our house with our dark brown wood trim! Much better!

The winner to the Starr Clothing giveaway is #22 - Sew Happy Stacy. (I used the True Random Number Generator at Random.org to select the winner.) If you didn't win, take advantage of the awesome winter sale to get a cute skirt or jumper for a little girl HERE.

Finding fancy or "church" clothes for my son are difficult and EXPENSIVE. HERE is one option that makes sense for boys because it is easy and inexpensive. Every once in a while, I need/want a basic skirt (like black or brown) for my daughter to go with some of her clothes. My experience is the basics are hard to find. Enter Starr Clothing on Etsy.

Basic black velour, olive with dew drops, chocolate embossed and taupe with glitter are four of the skirts that are on sale for only $10. Perhaps your want a stylish jumper for a little girl to wear. I can vouch that these jumpers are a great fit. My daughter is the one in the dark green jumper (2 years ago.) Isn't she and the jumper cute? No zippers or buttons. Just fits on over the head. I loved this little outfit everytime my daughter wore it! Professionally finished with a serger, these jumpers are only $18.00 .
So whether you are a skirt or jumper person, you will find something you like at Starr Clothing. The Christmas clearance sale just started so there are sizes of all skirts and jumpers from 12 months upto 4T available.
