Penny and Nickel Tiled Floor

This is a someday "dream" craft. I don't think it would ever happen for me, but it is definitely fun to look at! A hotel tiled their floor in PENNIES (found on Apartment Therapy)! Wow! Talk about bling!
See more pictures of the penny tiled floor!

This bathroom was tiled with nickels (as seen on Apartment Therapy)! Looks great! Two questions? How expensive would this be and could you get in trouble with the government for destroying money?

  1. LOL, that's cool ... but isn't it a federal offense to do that to legal tender? (kidding!!!)

  2. You know I never thought of if that could be considered tampering with federal tender LOL! I remember when i was a kid there was a pizza place my dad used to take us to. Their bar was completely covered in pennies and then had a thick glaze over the top, epoxy maybe? It was cool :) Thanks for featuring Craft Gossip :) :)

  3. This is amazing! I can't even imagine the time.

I visited the Philadelphia mint in July. Tampering with money with intent to use is what gets you into trouble. I think this floor is here to stay, not a way to pay. :)

  4. Awesome! Thanks for sharing! I love the penny floor, I love the color of copper, so I would love to do something like this! I bet it could also make a neat "tiled" shower.
