Pocket Full Of Posies (And Giveaway)

A couple of months ago, I asked the wonderful ladies at a Pocket Full Of Posies if I could please test their meal planning system.
I'm not a great cook. Sometimes, I don't even like to cook, but I do it because having a homemade meal around a table every night is one of the most important things I can do for my family!!! MANY important conversations have arose through our family dinners.

Eating out isn't an option. Making up my own recipes would be a disaster. Following Pocket Full Of Posies meal planning system and recipes was easy and tasty!

What Pocket Full of Posies does is send you a group of easy, tasty recipes and a card with 5 recipes you can make in a week. They break down the ingredient for each recipe in the week into "meat, spices, stock and fresh/frozen" categories to make shopping and planning easy. What usually takes me an hour or two to do, took me 20 minutes. I just had to check my pantry and spice list to see which ingredients I needed and off to the store I went. Hallelujah!!!

Here is my honest review of

I received a packet of 40 typed recipes and a planning pocket! I've tried over 20 of the recipes and all of them were tasty. The recipes that seemed a little bland for my husband and my tastes just had some cajun spice added to them:) The majority of the dishes were delicious. I would definitely make them again. The best part is that my kids liked almost all the recipes. They asked for more and enjoyed the leftovers. (That is saying something.)

I love the pocket to place the recipes I am cooking for the week. I'm not sure why I like it so much. Maybe it's because my husband can see our menu and the recipe cards are in easy reach. It's funny how something so simple can make me so happy! Although I cook internet recipes A LOT, the physical recipes cards were extremely nice to have. I didn't have to keep pushing a button to refresh the screen. I didn't have scroll up and down the screen past pictures. I just read the simple instructions! No raw chicken to wipe off the computer keys! (Sorry if that grossed you out, but that happens more often than I want to admit.)

I have two kids (ages 2 and 4). For the four of us, the size of the prepared dishes were too large. If my kids were teens, it would probably be just about perfect - enough for dinner and my husband's lunch the following day. At first, I thought this to be a negative - until I realized that I could freeze half of most of the meals!!!! Big time positive now! How many times do I wish I could just pull something healthy and nutritious out of the freezer for dinner! Now I can, just by fixing one recipe and eating half, and freezing the other half!

Because I thoroughly enjoyed the first few recipes I cooked, I was brave enough to fix "Calico Beans" for invited guests without testing the recipe first. We all LOVED it! I have made four recipes for dinner guests without testing them now and all of them turned out great! That is trust!!!

The recipes were fairly simple to follow. Some are super easy (and quick) and others take a little more time and involve a few more ingredients. I didn't have any problems following the recipes.

My favorite recipes so far are the White Bean Chili, the easiest Taco Salads, Calico Beans, Chicken Rotel, Chicken Parmesan Bundles,Cheeseburger Paradise Soup, Creamy Crock Pot Chicken and Potatoes, and Southwestern Skillet Mac -n-Cheese. I am excited to try the Corn Tortilla Chicken Lasagna, Sweet and Sour Kielbasa, Turkey Burgers, Simple Shrimp Scampi and more!

I would recommend the Pocket Full Of Posies Planning System to anyone. I would DEFINITELY recommend it to people like me who don't love to cook, but know the importance of saving time and money and of having homemade family dinners. If you want someone to tell you what to cook, what to buy and how to plan a week of dinners, you have found the ladies for the job!

  2. This is a great idea. I like cooking when I have the time (which is rare), but the worst part about cooking for me is the cleaning up afterwards. :) I like the monthly pocket package design 13, package 1.
