Hi everyone!!
I'm Stacie...the CraZy one behind The Creative Crate...and I am sooo excited that Michelle has invited me to guest post on her awesome blog today! I have been such a HUGE fan of her blog since day 1... and LoVe all of the FaBuLouS ideas she posts!
Use a cabinet door to make a "Look What I Created" art display. Perfect for the kiddos projects!
Turn more cabinet doors into a stunning picture display!
Well...today I am going to step out of my comfort zone a little...and show you a FuN sewing project that I made recently.
Lil' Hand Warmers:
You just warm them up in the microwave...then place them in your kiddos pockets to keep their lil' fingers nice and toasty on those chilly days.
Here's how I made mine:
First I started with 4 pieces of scrap flannel ...and cut to the size I wanted... (I think mine was about 4"x6")
Then I cut a heart shape in 2 of the pieces of flannel...
Then found some green and white scrap fabric and cut 2 pieces the same size as the flannel...and placed behind the 2 pieces of flannel with the hearts...
Then stitched around all four edges...
Then stitched around the heart...
Then placed the heart piece of flannel and the blank piece of flannel wrong sides together and stitched all the way around leaving a small opening...then turned it inside out...and poked the corners with a pencil making sure the corners were all out...
Then filled with rice...
Then hand-stitched the hole closed...
A very SIMPLE and {inexpensive} project!
Hmmmm....Wouldn't these make great stocking stuffers?!!
Michelle...Thanks so much for having me... I had a blast!!

ReplyDeletedo you think you could warm them in the oven? super cute, and clever.
ReplyDeleteExcellent idea!
ReplyDeletebut I would go a step further,,
they would be great gifts for nursing home/assisted living folks!
My Mother in Law always complained of cold hands..
these would have been so perfect for her!

Ooh flannel! Thanks so much, I'll be linking to these. Cozy!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the hand warmer tutorial! I use the larger size rice bags and love them, but didn't think to make them pocket size. No more cold fingers, yay! :)
ReplyDeleteHow long do you microwave them for and is the type of fabric you use a concern? Like, can I use polyester fleece or will it melt in the microwave?
