Forcing Spring To Come!!!

On April Fool's Day, our family woke up to 6 inches of SNOW!!! Funny joke! So what did we do? Ate snow cones, of course! Luckily, it melted quickly!

And yesterday, we woke up to this again!!!!

I decided I was going to force Spring to come! So we made this flowering branch! It is so much "springier" than the snow!!! Especially while eating Easter candy!

First, my kids and I watercolor painted two white pieces of paper with red, pink, and a little purple.

After letting it dry, we ripped the papers into nice, large pieces. I made 18 pieces from one paper.

I got the branches I had cut off some trees in our yard that needed trimming a couple of days earlier. They came from two different types of trees. One of them had these cute little round wannabe blossoms nodules on it!

I put a circle of elmers glue on each square and just scruched them up with the glue in the middle. The glue is supposed to hold the paper into the scrunched form.
Then I glued the scrunched paper around the ends of the branches and where I thought a blossom would look good! I forget to get pictures of that!

And there you have it! I have officially forced Spring to come to my house! The above picture was too busy so I put the blossoming branches in front of some slabs of sheetrock in our dining room. Doesn't everyone have sheetrock with their nice china? I guess only those of us who are remodeling! It looks so pretty!

I did this in preparation for the SPRING CATEGORICALLY CRAFTING SHOW on Friday here. I hope you have a SPRING project to show off! If you don't already have one, you still have a day to create something! See you on FRIDAY!!!!

  1. I love your spring branches. Where on earth do you live that you got so much snow so late??? Right now everything here is in bloom outside and we're enjoying it. I can see how your spring branches helped forcing spring. It really is a cute idea. that's an idea I will be trying.

  4. Your kids are adorable! How about you come to my house and force spring to come? I'm completely sick of this weather :( I want it to be 70 already :)

I've been wanting to do a flowering branch like this on my mantel...too bad I really don't have any trees in our neighborhood yet. But yours looks so beautiful!

  5. I've been looking at a broken tree branch on my way to work for the last couple of days and wondering what I could do with it. Now I know, and, btw, you must be somewhere in Utah. The snow has been ridiculous the last couple of weeks!
