Forcing Spring To Come!!!

On April Fool's Day, our family woke up to 6 inches of SNOW!!! Funny joke! So what did we do? Ate snow cones, of course! Luckily, it melted quickly!

And yesterday, we woke up to this again!!!!

I decided I was going to force Spring to come! So we made this flowering branch! It is so much "springier" than the snow!!! Especially while eating Easter candy!

First, my kids and I watercolor painted two white pieces of paper with red, pink, and a little purple.

After letting it dry, we ripped the papers into nice, large pieces. I made 18 pieces from one paper.

I got the branches I had cut off some trees in our yard that needed trimming a couple of days earlier. They came from two different types of trees. One of them had these cute little round wannabe blossoms nodules on it!

I put a circle of elmers glue on each square and just scruched them up with the glue in the middle. The glue is supposed to hold the paper into the scrunched form.
Then I glued the scrunched paper around the ends of the branches and where I thought a blossom would look good! I forget to get pictures of that!

And there you have it! I have officially forced Spring to come to my house! The above picture was too busy so I put the blossoming branches in front of some slabs of sheetrock in our dining room. Doesn't everyone have sheetrock with their nice china? I guess only those of us who are remodeling! It looks so pretty!

I did this in preparation for the SPRING CATEGORICALLY CRAFTING SHOW on Friday here. I hope you have a SPRING project to show off! If you don't already have one, you still have a day to create something! See you on FRIDAY!!!!

HERE is a very cool tip about how to use nail polish remover to add an image to a plate (and this could probably work for other surfaces too.) The Country Chic Cottage has this great idea!

Old Stuff For Sale (Windows, Door, Sitting Thing)

Hey people! As you may remember, we live in an old house we are fixing up. We have old windows, an old door and a older (but not antique) sofa/chair/sitting thing. I am trying to clean out our "barn." My "someday craft" list of doing something with these items are not as important as making space for more urgent things. If you are interested in anything below, let me know at somedaycrafts@gmail.com Old window are beautiful, but NOT energy efficient. I think there are 9 of them in all different sizes and colors. Some still have the original knobs and latches attached. Priced from $5-$15.

This door is upside down in this picture. I think there used to be glass in the middle of the door, but it has wood there now. This is heavy! It was an entrance door. It could be used as a headboard, corner of the room decor, or whatever else you can think of. Cost is $20!

Lastly and unfortunately, I need to make room for the ever growing collection of bikes, scooters, trikes, strollers and things with wheels that is assembling on our front porch. (Our house is the neighborhood hang-out so we have to have enough things with wheels for everyone!!!) It is in really good condition, but doesn't have cushions. Look at the legs, arms, details! A little country! With a little love, care and paint (black, white or varnish), it would look amazing on a covered porch or in a house! Only $30.

First come, First serve. We live in Logan UT and you will have to pick them up. (For the windows, I would consider delivering anywhere along the Wasatch Front the next time we take a trip down.) Can you do something amazing with these items? I hope so!!!
